Members of the Complaints Committee Against Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Academic Session 2023-24)

Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) at Shivaji College, University of Delhi

OVERVIEW

At Shivaji College, we are dedicated to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students, faculty, and staff. In line with this commitment, we adhere to the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) guidelines as mandated by law and our own institutional standards.

What is POSH?

The Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act is a critical legislative measure in India aimed at safeguarding individuals from sexual harassment in educational institutions and workplaces. This act outlines the rights of students and employees and the responsibilities of institutions to ensure a harassment-free environment.

OUR COMMITMENT

Zero Tolerance Policy**: Shivaji College enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy against any form of sexual harassment. Every complaint will be treated with the utmost seriousness, confidentiality, and promptness.

Awareness and Education**: We conduct regular workshops, seminars, and training sessions to educate our college community about what constitutes sexual harassment, how to prevent it, and the proper channels for reporting incidents.

Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)**: We have established an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) comprising trained members who are responsible for addressing and resolving complaints of sexual harassment. The ICC is equipped to handle cases sensitively and impartially.

Support and Resources**: We offer support to victims of sexual harassment, including counseling services and guidance throughout the complaint process.

REPORTING PROCESS

If you experience or witness any form of sexual harassment, we urge you to report it immediately. Here’s how you can report:

Contact the ICC**: Reach out to any member of the Internal Complaints Committee directly or via email at icc@shivaji.du.ac.in

Anonymous Reporting**: For those who prefer anonymity, we provide a secure and confidential reporting system.

Immediate Response**: Upon receiving a complaint, the ICC will initiate a prompt and thorough investigation, ensuring confidentiality and fairness throughout the process.

CONCLUSION

At Shivaji College, we are committed to creating a safe and respectful academic environment. By upholding the principles of POSH, we strive to ensure that all members of our college community can learn, teach, and work in a supportive and harassment free setting.
