Department of Physical Education

The Department offers courses in theoretical and practical aspects of the subject. It empowers students to adopt a healthy lifestyle as a sound and fit employee is sought after by every organisation. Moreover, with fitness industry growing, students can look forward to securing many employment opportunities as well.

The Department offers Generic Elective (GE) Course in each semester. The objective of this course is

  • To provide understanding regarding fitness and wellness.
  • To understand the need of professional development.
  • To impart knowledge about Olympics and its organisation.
  • Provide skill and practices related to injury prevention and rehabilitation in sports.
  • Develop an awareness of the technical and scientific basis of preparing a sportsperson.

In order to cater the need of physical fitness and skill development in a sports, the department offer papers such as ‘Fit India’ and ‘Sports for Life’ in Value Addition Courses. The objective of this course is

  • To learn the strategies and tactical moves while playing a sport.
  • To understand the importance of physical activity in reference to 3S: strength, speed and suppleness.
  • To understand the values of teamwork, tolerance, goal-setting and decision making.
  • Understand and implement ‘Fit India Protocol’ specified by the Government of India
  • Enhance fitness through engaging students in physical activities and yoga.

To enhance the skill and develop personality, the department offers paper ‘Yoga in Practice’ for students in Skill Enhancement Courses. The objective of this course is

  • To form an understanding on the concept of yoga.
  • To gain theoretical and practical knowledge on Asana and Pranayama

Apart from this, the department provides teaching/ training to students in games such as basketball, volleyball, football, cricket and chess throughout the academic session
