Commerce Society: KAIZEN

This duly elected Commerce Society “KAIZEN” organises a number of programmes each academic year. The flagship programme is, however, the annual inter-college Commerce festival “OPTIMUM”. This annual festival provides a platform for students to think beyond the lines of formal curriculum and showcase their creativity. It is one of the most awaited academic events in the college and attracts wide participation from different colleges in competitions like paper presentation, group discussion, business quiz, mock stock, logo redesigning etc. The Department also has to its credit well placed and successful alumni.

Department of Commerce, Shivaji College under the aegis of IQAC, organised a webinar on the 'Building Self-Reliant India in Post COVID-19 Regime' on May 19, 2020, to address the challenges and opportunities ahead of the country in the unprecedented scenario. The webinar was graced by Professor Tejinder Sharma, Department of Commerce, Kurukshetra University as the resource person. The session invited participation from students, faculty members and research scholars across universities.

The session was commenced with the welcome note of Dr. Rajinder Singh, Teacher In Charge, Department of Commerce, and was followed by the address of the Principal, Dr. Shiv Kumar Sahdev.

Department of Commerce, Shivaji College under the aegis of IQAC, organised a webinar on the 'Changing Paradigm of Research in COVID Era', on May 12, 2020 to discuss the challenges faced by the researchers in this unprecedented scenario. The webinar was graced by seasoned academia Dr. Hamendra Kumar Dangi, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi, as the resource person. The session was attended by students, faculty members and research scholars across universities/college.

The Department of Commerce in collaboration with Indian Business School (IBS) organised mock tests online and offline on September 30, 2019. These tests were on the pattern of management entrance exams.

Commerce department, in collaboration with Indian Business School (IBS), Gurugram, organised a seminar on career opportunities on October 16, 2019. The seminar revolved majorly around management education, including the different syllabi and preparation strategies.

The department, in collaboration with Mahatma Hansraj Faculty Development Center (MHRFDC), also organised a one week National level Faculty Development Program on the topic, “Research Methodology and Data Analysis Using SPSS/R” from November 14 to 20, 2019. The session covered wide range of topics including literature review, questionnaire designing, research design, sampling, etc.
