Geography: Achievements

Students of the department have distinguished themselves by their all-round performance. A majority of those graduating from the college each year secure first class marks. Many of our alumni are today serving in the administrative services, police and armed forces while others have become successful teachers, lawyers and business persons.

Our students have also brought glory to the department by excelling in extra-curricular activities. To mention a few of their achievements in 2015-16:

Avinash Ruhela and Akhil Bhandari (5th semester) secured  the 2nd position in a quiz contest organised by the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (Ministry of Tourism, Government of India).

Asit Pratap (6th semester) was adjudged the best interjector in a debate organised by Miranda House.

Mahima Shokhanda (6th semester) secured the 2nd prize in a Paper Presentation contest in Miranda House.

Munish Kumar and Rajnish Jha (4th semester) were a force to be reckoned with in quizzing, winning prizes in contests all over Delhi University.

Members of the faculty, too, have several achievements to their credit. Dr. Surender Singh and Dr. Lalita Rana have authored books that are popular among students of geography. All teachers have published papers in books and journals and presented papers in national and international seminars and conferences. Some have undertaken and successfully completed research projects.
