Economics: Achievements

The Department has produced many high quality professionals who are now working with national and international institutions rendering services like banking, finance, research,  knowledge  processing etc. Many of the alumni have taken up faculty positions in University of Delhi. Most of our students opt for higher studies and take admissions in highly reputed educational institutions like IIMs, Delhi School of Economics etc. Department has also been fortunate to have students, who have gone on to become civil servants and members of armed forces, rendering their valuable services to the nation.

Besides academics, the department promotes students’ participation in curricular and extra-curricular activities. This has enabled students to represent college and win accolades in events as part of various cultural societies

1) Hans Malik (III year) was conferred the award of “Best All Round Performer” for the year 2015-16.

2) A photograph clicked by Amit Joshi (III year), member of ‘Shutterbugs’ (Photography and Film making society) has been selected for the monthly edition of National Geographic Traveller.

3) Hans Malik (III year) and Vidushi Pant (II year) as   members of Footloose (Dance Society) won many prizes in the academic session 2015-16. They won the first prize for Group dance at ANDC, IIM Rohtak, IMI, IIHM,  JIMS and Bharti Vidyapeeth. At IIT Roorkee Sri Venkateswar College, Lady Sri Ram College and Shaheed Rajguru of Applied Sciences,  they  received  special mention.

4) Udit, Deepali Gulati and Enakshi of II year are members of Vayam (Theatre Society) which had performed exceedingly well in all the competitive events, winning many awards and accolades. The group is rated as one of the best five theatre groups in Delhi University.

Faculty Achievements

The Department has experienced and competent faculty members actively involved in research. Few members of faculty have been conferred with awards like Naqvi Memorial Scholarship for excellence in merit by Department of Economics at Delhi School of Economics, Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship and Ford Foundation Scholarship at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Three of the faculty members were selected for the Faculty Training Programme to pursue specialization in selected thrust areas at reputed universities of United Kingdom in 2011-12. The faculty also has to its credit, an innovation project, research paper presentations at both international and national level, published research papers in Journals with high impact factor and online study material.
